Today (April fools Day) is a tough day on the internet. It’s hard to tell what’s real and what’s fake sometimes. That is why I first thought this was fake. But it was published on March 27th, so I’m fairly confident it’s real.

The Pioneer Anomaly is one of those things that scientists have been scratching their heads about for years. Both Pioneer space craft are slowing down at a faster rate than was predicted. Because of this some claimed that we need to revise the laws of physics or tweak the current theory of gravity.

Using a new modeling technique from the 1970s, a group of scientists from Portugal seemed to have cracked the anomaly. Click on the source links above to read the details. Their results still need to be verified, but this is a much simpler solution than rewriting the laws of physics.
