Christians Shouldn’t Be Rich – If They Want to Get Into Heaven

So why is Rick Warren tweeting this nonsense?*

I thought the rich removing themselves of their money freely for the good of their less fortunate brothers and sisters was the whole point of Christianity, and that wealth is a great risk to entering heaven. At least according to Christ, who I hear has a rather large role in that religion.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” Matthew 19:23-24

Rick Warren is the definition of a Pharisee; he’s like a cosmic joke put there by a Deist God to prove religion is vacuous – no substance to prevent it from turning into whatever manipulators want it to be. It’s even worse that American Christians are (supposedly) literate and can read the Bible.  It’s one of the least ambiguous passages. It’s Jesus laying it down, no interpretive metaphor, no circumspect language: Rich people do not go to heaven.

According to Christ, but what does He know? He’s dead and Rick Warren has a lot of moneyed patrons to protect – financially. He is their shepherd after all.

*ALSO: That’s just federal taxes. Proportional to income, the middle class and poor pay much higher tax rates.
