From the Islamic Republic News Agency (Iranian government news)
Iran’s Judiciary Human Rights Headquarters issued a statement on Monday, strongly condemning the inhuman action of Canadian police in suppressing protesters against the G-20 Summit in Toronto.
The statement referred to sever suppression of protesters by Canadian police and said the Canadian government on various occasions expresses concern about violation of human rights in other countries but during the G-20 Toronto Summit it revealed its inhuman nature which stunned the world public opinion.
It is regrettable that on the sidelines of G-20 Summit in Toronto, over 500 protestors were arrested illegally, said the statement.
The inhuman attacks on protesters have truly revealed the despotic nature of the Canadian government which claims to be an advocate of democracy and human rights, read the statement.
The statement also called on the international bodies including the United Nations Human Rights Council to dispatch reporters to precisely study different aspects of the issue in Canada.
The Canadian judicial system is expected to take action and administer justice in dealing with the innocent civilians who merely took part in protest rallies and free them as soon as possible, underlined the statement.
Ah, the old counter-charge to achieve moral equivalency trick. What did Iran’s Judiciary Human Rights Headquarters have to say about last year’s brutal suppression of the 2009 protests? What? They have no comment on the interwebs! Probably because all 300,000 protesters were British spies or something. But, we do have the accounts of reformists who simply disappeared for a while last year. Well ok, Islamic Republic News Agency, what do you have written about last year’s protests on your website?
