Texas School Board Renames ‘Slavery’ ‘Atlantic Triangular Trade’

This is disgusting on two levels.

Texas is trying to refer to the slave trade as “Atlantic triangular trade” – whitewashing the disgusting and perverted practice, leveling the trade of people to rum and sugar. This is just gross.

Almost as bad, I learned about it through a British paper here. CNN, the New York Times, and the Washington Post don’t mention it as of 2:30 pm. The blogger Matt Yglesias does, as does Fox News. But Fox News’ coverage is predictably stupid and says only that the final Texas Textbook Showdown is happening this week and that there is liberal vs conservative controversy.
